A late Victorian existing building was refurbished and sub-divided to create 5 luxury apartments within a historic shell. Two contemporary three-storey blocks were constructed within the surrounding grounds to house a further 9 apartments. The award-winning modern design was respectful to the existing building, but never tried to emulate the traditional structure. The resulting combination was vibrant and appealing, with the majority of the apartments selling off plan before the building works were fully completed.

Tip of the day...Contemporary design can sit comfortably next to traditional design when proportions, lines and materials are carefully considered.
